The Opportunity

At Sixfold we engineer our proprietary MergoTM systems to ensure therapeutics hit their target. We see the huge potential of RNA therapies being limited by how safely and effectively they can be delivered in people. 

As a Junior Cellular Biologist, you'll have the opportunity to build a radically different approach to how we deliver RNA therapeutics. You’ll be applying your knowledge of biology to assist the preclinical team in designing and implementing novel assays to drive the development of our technology. 

 

This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join us as we enter a promising phase of pre-clinical development. You’ll join a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary and dynamic team environment: a passionate team of chemists, biochemists and biologists looking to make a difference (and have fun doing it!).  You’ll be exposed to advanced technical and scientific skills that are in high demand in the rapidly growing field of RNA therapies. 

 

What You’ll Do
  • Assist in the biological evaluation of MergoTM systems, by designing and implement cell-based assays for efficacy and safety read-outs

  • Interpret data and communicate findings in a clear and informative way.

  • Suggest and implement novel ideas for the improvement of Sixfold’s technology.

  • Maintain high-quality records.

  • Operate and communicate in a highly disciplinary team of biologists, chemists and biochemists.

  • Be involved in Sixfold's many grant projects with leading industrial and academic institutions, such as Imperial College, the Medicines Discovery Catapult and the National Physical Laboratory. 

 

Who you are

You’ll need experience in mammalian cell culture and appropriate techniques for downstream experimental read-outs. You’ll be a highly motivated and independent individual who is also comfortable working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

 

Specifically, you should be someone who:

  • Holds a masters degree in either biology, biochemistry, cell and gene therapies, pharmacology, biomaterials or a related discipline. 

  • 1-2 (or more) years experience working with mammalian cells

Not required, but helpful
  • Cellular and molecular biology techniques, including: RT-qPCR, PCR, transfections, proliferation/cytotoxicity studies, immunofluorescence stainings, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, PAGE and WesternBlotting.

  • Downstream analysis of tissues collected from in vivo experiments: tissue lysing, extraction of molecules, purification and analysis.

  • in vitro transcription of RNA.
